United By Art
Our Live Facebook Page (Scroll) :
The arts speak to and lift up our most deeply-rooted values, and reinforce community identity. The arts acknowledge and promote the real-life experiences of individuals who are often left out of civic engagement.
As Common Table brings people of all backgrounds together around food and conversation, United By Art (formerly Creative Democracy) brings artists – and their fans – from all corners of our community together around the commonality of art and creativity. Each unique event features an unexpected diversity of visual artists, musicians, poets, dancers, storytellers, who are otherwise unlikely to share a stage together.
Please join our mailing list to receive announcements about upcoming United By Art events.
How to participate in “United By Songs” on August 27th:
Tell your friends, family, and neighbors about this event — the more people who join and sing together, the better! Here is the list of songs. Click song title for downloadable lyrics sheet, or click HERE for folder containing all five sheets:
“Lean On Me” - Bill Withers
“Respect” - Aretha Franklin
“La Bamba” - Los Lobos version
“Three Little Birds” - Bob Marley
“All You Need Is Love” - The Beatles
The songs will begin playing at 5:30pm on the radio, KTYD 99.9 FM, and streaming live on ktyd.com. All you do is sing along, with everything you’ve got! From the front of your home, or inside – by yourself or with your family, roommates. (Please do not gather in groups beyond those who are part of your primary domestic bubble!)
(Optional) Video yourself or your family-member singing (or dancing, if you’re game!) and post it on our Facebook page: facebook.com/unitedbyart805 — OR upload it to YouTube and send us the link. We will compile and share the videos following the event!
PLEASE use this event as an occasion to donate support for your local gigging musicians and crew who are particularly challenged during this pandemic:
