Coffee With A Muslima – A Conversation With Yasmin
Yasmin Sallak graduated from UCSB with a Master's degree in Biology, and is a community member of the Islamic Society of Santa Barbara. She is also passionate about interfaith work as a Board Member of the Interfaith Initiative of Santa Barbara County.

Isla Vista Common Table: Beloved Community
Presented by the Lois & Walter Capps Project and Associated Students of U.C.S.B., in honor of the fifth anniversary of the Isla Vista tragedy.
"The Art of Community"
Join us downtown for an unexpected evening of art and music, presented by a rich diversity of performers from all corners of our community. This is a rare event – a coming-together from among various backgrounds, around the commonality of art and creativity. And there will be free tacos for the first 100 people to arrive! (Gate opens at 6pm.)
As part of our Creative Democracy program, “The Art of Community” will happen at the wonderful, newly-rennovated Community Arts Workshop (CAW), 631 Garden St.
Free to attend, all ages, and open to the public.

Our Common Table - Montecito
"Our Common Table" will debut in Montecito, July 26th from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at Montecito Union School, upper playing field.
An outdoor gathering of neighbors, sharing food at one continuous table, in the heart of our Montecito community.
No program. No politics. No speeches. Just food (pot-luck), music, and a little togetherness in the midst of rebuilding our community.

"Creative Democracy - In Six Minutes"
In one inspiring evening, a handful of short (6-minute) performances and presentations by an unexpected assortment of area artists and community voices, who are otherwise unlikely to share a stage together.
A celebration of the rich diversity of creative talent in our community – from those who have achieved widespread recognition to those who manage to thrive in the shadows of the prevailing spotlight. The event is intended to provide joyful evidence of the essential value of the arts to a healthy, positive, authentic democracy.
And it will all take place at the Rock Shop Academy, a treasure of a venue buried in the heart of downtown at 1109 De La Vina St.
Special Screening of "Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom" with Tipper Gore
As part of their "Movies That Matter" series, hosted by our very own Hal Conklin, the Granada Theater is featuring a special screening of this remarkable story on behalf of the Lois & Walter Capps Project. On May 11th at 7pm, the movie will be introduced by former Second Lady of the United States Tipper Gore and Lois Capps.
